MotePal Privacy Policy
MotePal ("the app") is a remote control app for smart TVs, published by wasiq.co ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with information. In short: MotePal does not collect your personal information, and nothing you do in the app is sent to us.
What the app stores on your phone
- The names and network (IP) addresses of the TVs you add.
- Pairing keys and certificate fingerprints that let your phone reconnect to those TVs safely.
- Your settings (theme, accent colour, haptics and similar) and any app shortcuts you add.
This information stays on your phone. It is not uploaded to us or to anyone else. Removing a TV in the app, clearing the app's data, or uninstalling the app deletes it.
How the app connects
MotePal talks directly to your TV over your local Wi-Fi network. To find TVs, it sends discovery messages on your local network. No information about your TV or your use of it leaves your home network through the app.
Voice search
If you tap the microphone button, the app asks Android's built-in speech recognition service to turn your speech into text. That service is provided by your device and is governed by its own terms and privacy policy (for example, Google's). MotePal does not record or store your audio and does not receive it.
What we do not do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising and no advertising ID.
- No analytics, crash reporting or tracking tools.
- We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not collect any.
Permissions
The app asks only for standard network permissions: internet access, network state, Wi-Fi state and multicast (to discover TVs on your network). It does not ask for your location, contacts, photos, files, camera or microphone.
Children
MotePal is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy (for example, if advertising or analytics are ever added), we will update this page and the effective date before the change is released.
